Quiet Modern unifies Mediterranean ease

This bucolic estate underwent a surgical elimination of various overstated architectural details and artificial elements. The strategic edit to remove faux features, add crisp white lime plaster exteriors, lime wash interior walls, and recreate the fluid corridor arches were critical in the home’s new grace.

The stewards of this stately home wanted it to feel like a retreat that one might find on the European riviera. Both former winemakers and Arabian horse breeders in Santa Barbara they deeply comprehend architecture, art, landscape design, and craftsmanship. “Without hesitation, she was my muse on this project! I’m an artist, so my fashion background and love of vintage film perpetually guide my creative lens across a project like that of an unearthly Ouija board. I fancy color, and the deep emotion it creates is intoxicating when done well. The client’s razor-sharp fashion sense was the springboard to embrace color in an intelligent European way.”
