COMING SOON – It’s all about balance, scale and comfort

Nestled in Dallas’ premiere Park Cities neighborhood, the home’s traditional Georgian-style bones are human-scale and gracious. I always start by mixing old and new things–layers of inspiration create a singular sense of history and character—that very character makes you feel the warmth in a room. However, when your client is 6’7″ tall, balancing the size and scale of furniture becomes a delicate dance.

The fireplace and TV are the room’s central focal points, so replacing the modern glossy marble tile surround was essential. We opted for rare hand-painted antique tiles reclaimed from France, which create the impression that this room has always been the heart of the house.

This Texan family, spanning multiple generations, prefers a relaxed and hospitable lifestyle. The reimagined Library Lounge is transformed into a cinematic stage by utilizing sumptuous, pet-friendly fabrics in warm, lush colors. It is embellished by a pair of blue tourmaline-colored vintage Murano glass lamps by Marbro. Lamps can be the jewelry of a room, and their lamp shades likened to beautiful custom-tailored suits.

While exploring a dimly lit corner of the house, I spotted an exquisite walnut buffet from the 1960s made by John Widdicomb. It was inherited from her grandmother several years ago and features sleek lines and a rich solid walnut complemented by Chinoise-style brass hardware pulls. It’s a fantastic piece of heritage; now, it is center stage in the room!

The lovingly reimagined den, now called “The Library Lounge,” is the kind of cozy room you never want to leave!
